Paper Saving Bonds No Longer Sold

TreasuryDirect® Offers Electronic Savings Bonds

As indicated in the July 13, 2011 press release issued from the Treasury, effective January 1, 2012, paper savings bonds can no longer be sold at financial institutions. Electronic savings bonds will be available for purchase only through the Treasury’s website, TreasuryDirect®. Therefore, this means that issuing agents should stop accepting applications for paper savings bonds after
December 31, 2011. Customers should visit www.treasurydirect.gov to purchase savings bonds.
