CornerBank has announced that Deb Engstrom is the
Community Cornerstone Award recipient for the month of August. In
recognition of her service, CornerBank will make a contribution on
behalf of Engstrom to the Lawrence Public Schools for transition
instruction. A
reception honoring her service was held at 4:30 p.m., Thursday,
Aug. 24, in the CornerBank lobby, 4621 W. 6th Street. The
public was invited to attend the reception.
Engstrom’s community service includes foster parenting, Special
Olympics, ARC, Saturday Meal Group. Community Drop-In Center
and Lawrence Community Christmas Dinner. She teaches special
education students at Lawrence High School.
CornerBank developed the Community Cornerstone Award program to
recognize the dedicated volunteers who contribute many hours of volunteer
service that help build strong communities. Recipients are selected through
nominations reviewed by a selection committee. Selection committee
members are Bob Bowline, Carol Hatton, Bernard Judge, Richard "Doc" Haun,
Alice Fowler, Alice Ann Johnston and Susan Craig. CornerBank
also will donate $100 to the non-profit organization of the recipient’s
choice.
